Chile
Overview
Perhaps
the hottest up-and-coming wine region in the world is Chile.
Wine
has been made there for several hundred years, but it’s
only recently that we’ve seen enough exported to turn the
rest of us wine lovers on to these accessible and affordable Chilean
wines.
Grapes
grow under great conditions there. It’s pretty hot
and dry most of the time but the vineyards get plenty of moisture
from the melting snows of the towering Andes
Mountains.
With
mostly Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon
Blanc, Chile
is mainstream in the wine shop.
Chilean
wines remind us a lot of California
wines. The wine is classic new world in style… easy
to drink with lots of fruitiness. And they’re perfect
for everyday, especially because of the prices you’ll find
them at.
Now
that all the big producers have set up shop in Chile,
the amount of wine coming north will continue to grow. Good
for us to be sure!
