Wine of the Week!
Annie’s Lane Clare Valley 2006 Riesling $15
There are lots of tasty and affordable wines from Australia out there today and here’s another as our wine of the week this week. The wine is Annie’s Lane 2006 Clare Valley Riesling. Its got everything we love in Riesling, a spring flower aroma, tart citrusy and peachy flavors, a balancing stony dryness and a hint of sweet fruit on the finish.
Now that’s quite a package for about out fifteen dollars!
It’s wonderful with the shrimp right off the Barbie and ideal for anything Asian… from stir fry veggies to Szechwan chicken. It’s why we love Riesling – the versatility to fit your food moods – and why Annie’s Lane is such a well balanced, everyday choice.
You don’t even have to wait for food. Try it as the perfect sipper when you want a glass of white wine on the lighter side.
Annie’s Lane 2006 Clare Valley Riesling is as friendly as an Australian saying “G’day Mate!” And our wine of the week.

Winemaker's Notes and Comments:
Annie Wayman was a legend in the Clare Valley. She could always be relied upon to bring along sandwiches and a warm drink to harvesters and pruners in the vineyard at the turn of the 20th century. One evening, Annie's horse and cart got bogged in a lane adjacent to one of the valley's best vineyards. Thus, Annie's Lane was born.
Annie' s Lane is now one of the finest wineries in Australia's renowned Clare Valley and represents the finest vineyards in one of South Australia's great regions. The Annie's Lane wines rely on regional and varietal expression and have been awarded with over 350 trophies and medals at wine shows in Australia and across the globe since the first release in 1996.
The 2006 Annie's Lane Riesling is pale straw in color with green hues. The nose shows the classis, elegant characters of Clare Valley Riesling - dried lime rind, citrus and stone fruit. The palate is tight and elegant, with lime flavors dominating throughout.
Food pairings: Enjoy as an aperitif or as the perfect accompaniment to fruits de mer.
Cellaring: Impressive length and natural acidity will allow for graceful aging over the next 5 to 8 years.

Notes
on our Wines of the Week, Recommendations, and Picks:
When you read our thoughts,
please remember that you may think differently. A particular wine
may be your favorite and not on our list. Well, don't stop buying
it because of that. In fact, you may want to email
us and let us know about it. These are our opinions but our
FIRST recommendation is to go by your own palate.
A couple of other thoughts . . . first, prices
are approximate. They'll vary. Second, different vintages mean
different grapes and different tastes so our recommendation for
a 2000 Merlot may not hold for 2001.
And lastly, we remind you to drink responsibly!
Now, all that said, here is a summary of links to our suggestions.
